FAQ
The short answers. Each one links to the long version.
The product
Do I need to know how to code? No. Ask an AI for a page, click ↑ Push, pick a name. (Quickstart.)
Is pushd a hosting service? No - pushd is the deploy button, not the host. Your site lives on hosting you own and control. We never store or serve your pages.
Where do my sites actually live? On the provider you connect: Netlify, Vercel, Cloudflare, GitHub Pages, Tiiny.host or your own cPanel hosting.
What happens if I uninstall pushd? Your sites stay online. You lose local extension data (tokens, history, preferences).
Which AI tools work? Claude.ai, ChatGPT, Gemini and Grok get the one-click button. Anything else works via copy-paste or file drop into the popup - and more one-click integrations (DeepSeek and others) are on the roadmap.
Does pushd only deploy AI pages? No - the popup takes any HTML file, ZIP or folder. AI chats are just where the button lives. (Deploying.)
Safety and privacy
Is it safe to give pushd my hosting tokens? Tokens are stored only in your browser’s local extension storage and sent only to the provider they belong to, over HTTPS.
Can pushd see what I deploy? No. Deploys go directly from your browser to your provider’s API. The only backend we run is a small billing service for Pro, and it stores nothing about your pages.
Money
What’s actually free? Unlimited deploys, one connected provider of your choice, ZIP download, deploy history with redeploy/rollback, SEO customization, QR codes and share links. No account needed.
What does Pro add? Every provider connected at once, password protection, removing the “Published with pushd” badge, pre-upload optimization, and health checks on all your sites. Cancel anytime. (Pro & billing.)
Is the hosting itself free? Yes on every provider’s free tier (Tiiny’s free mode is temporary; its permanent sites are paid).
How does Pro work across devices? It’s tied to your Google account - sign in on any machine and Pro unlocks. Manage or cancel via the customer portal.
Day-to-day
Can I update a site after deploying? Yes - push again with the same site name and the same URL updates in place. New name = new site. You can also redeploy any earlier version from history.
Can I use my own domain? Custom domains are configured at your provider (free to connect on Netlify, Vercel, Cloudflare and GitHub Pages - you pay only for the domain). On cPanel your sites are on your domain already. In-pushd domain setup is on the roadmap.
Can I get my site out of pushd? There’s nothing in pushd to get out - your files are on your hosting, and the ZIP download gives you a local copy any time. No lock-in is the design.
